This scarf design is tribute to my birthplace, a small, tiny state in the north east of India, called Manipur. This border design is widely used in women clothing (Phanek = Sarong & Phee = Scarf/ Shawl) and is called yairongphee (cloth with teeth border). This border pattern is used for lining the top and bottom border, resembling the teeth of Lord Pakhangba (the Serpent God)
