Melisandre’s Fire is a knitted light lace shawl with a fiery pattern and the unusual flame border. I was inspired (again) by George R. R. Martin’s “Song of Ice and Fire” series’ character Melisandre – the priestess of fire.
Melisandre’s Fire is intended for intermediate knitters. It contains mostly easy and well known types of stitches. Repeats of the pattern are quite long so they can be difficult to learn by heart, especially at the beginning. Border pattern contains short rows technique. Shawl’s shape is modifiable. Using charted motifs you can easily compose triangle, heart-shaped (shown on the photo), deep heart-shaped, rectangular or even round swirl-shaped shawl.
I’ve tried to write the description so that making of the shawl was easy and enjoyable; that’s why it includes clear charts for each of 10 motifs and for the whole shawl in every shape, detailed and divided into sections containing row-by-row descriptions for every shape, as well as video links for easy identification of specific stitches. In case of any doubts or questions, I will be happy to help you.
