Sock Construction: Melonated Purl Socks are knit cuff-down, working from the wrong side for a textured fabric on the leg, instep and sole. You will work the leg and foot inside out with mostly knit stitches and a few purls to create a distinct ribbing on the foot, and a garter stitch sole. Instructions are provided for a rounded toe with a unique grafting technique to finish.

Sample Yarn (pictured): Neighborhood Fiber Company’s Organic Studio Sock in “Espi Frazier;” each skein contains 100% Organic Merino yarn with 400 yards /100g; Size 2 sample used 1 skein.

Suggested Gauge: 8 sts and 11 rounds per 1 inch (10 cm) of stockinette stitch, unblocked on US 1/2.25mm needle

Sizes: 1 (2, 3) with 7, (8, 9) in / 18 (20, 23) cm finished foot circumference for 1 in (2.5 cm) negative ease.
Sample shown is size 2 with 10.5in (27 cm) foot length, and 3.5 in (9 cm) cuff.
Cuff, leg, and foot can be knit to fit; adding length will increase the yardage needed.

Needles & Notions: US 1/2.25mm, tapestry needle, scissors, stitch markers

This pattern gives instruction for the Magic Loop method, knitting one sock at a time on a single circular needle. The Needle ends are referred to as N1 and N2. Adjust the instructions to your preferred knitting method (DPNs, 2 circulars, two at a time, etc.). See the Online Pattern Resources in the pattern for recommended tutorials.
