Dream, meditate, pray … your mind can stray a bit, but you won’t be bored. Linked seed stitch creates a lovely, nubby texture and a lightweight, stretchy fabric – a warm and comforting blanket for the cherished recipient.

I love crochet (I am a terrible knitter), but I love knitted blankets because they are typically stretchier and more lightweight, and that is what I wanted for this specific blanket.

I’ve experimented with linked stitches and love the fabric created by them. This blanket is done with a “linked seed stitch” and the fabric qualities elude typical photos! The third photo shows the fabric when lightly stretched … so you can see the “linky-ness” better.

Created as a “prayer blanket”, I found the seed stitch rows to be rhythmic … and the color changes kept me engaged in the process.

It is easily modified for extra width/length, and adaptable to other weights of yarn … just size your hook up enough to keep a loose tension, as this contributes to the knit-like drape and feel of the fabric.
