On hooks and thread/yarn
In making the flowers and leaves for this tutorial I mainly used crochet thread and embroidery floss (DMC) with a 1.7 mm hook (UK-/ USA:5), even for the crochet thread which according to the label required smaller hook. Please bear in mind that smaller hooks work magic with crochet thread and the look of the flowers will be more delicate, sturdier and will appear “tighter” whereas with cotton, the look is softer and not as sturdy. For comparison reasons I also worked with sport yarn and a 3mm hook (UK11) (US 10/3).

Stitches: chain (ch), chain space (ch-space), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), double crochet and treble two together dc2tog/tr2tog, (half double crochet (hdc), treble. American terminology used.

Other materials: All sorts of beads that will work for decorating your flowers, metal findings (clamps, earring hooks, metal trays, brooch pins, jump rings, adjustable rings, metal chain, pendants etc.). You will also need a sewing needle (and thread) to finish tails and for sewing the crochet elements on.
The tutorial contains 4 flower patterns (with variations), and 4 leaf patterns with multiple suggestions how to use these in creating all sorts of necklaces, brooches, and earrings/ rings.
