The mini stocking garland knitting pattern is worked in the round using magic loop, and has an easy short row heel. There is a full video tutorial to go with this pattern, so I will walk you through all the heel steps to make it as easy as possible. The pattern is written with the 1 color version, but I have some information on the last page of the pattern about using multiple colors to make striped versions.

MATERIALS
YARN - Worsted weight:
Each stocking ended up weighing about 12-13g. It averaged out to be about 27-30 yds (25-27m) per stocking. Multiply that by the number of stockings you want to get your total yardage. The sample has 9 stockings.

Note: Worsted is sometimes called Medium #4 yarn in big box stores. I believe in the UK worsted is called Aran, and in AUS it’s called 10 ply.

Sample uses: A mixture of: I Love This Yarn in ‘Light Sage’, Big Twist Twinkle in ‘White’, and Impeccable in ‘Red Hot’. All acrylic yarns.

NEEDLES
US 8 {5.00 mm} 32″ (81 cm) circumference.
Or size needed to match gauge.*

OTHER MATERIALS
Yarn Needle, Removable Stitch Markers.

GAUGE
Stockinette - Worked in the Round.
Roughly: 18 sts/24.5 rounds = 4″ (10 cm)
Gauge is not very important for these. You want your stockings to look neat, but not too stiff. And you don’t want large holes around the heel turn area. If your stockings are too stiff, either go up a needle size or change your yarn. And if you are getting large holes around the heel either pull tighter when making a DS, or go down a needle size.

SIZING
The sizing varied depending on the brand of yarn I used. But, they were usually around 4″ (10 cm) from the cuff CO down to the bend in the heel. And about 3.5″ (9 cm) from the bend in the heel to the toe. And roughly 5.5” (14 cm) circumference.
