Suitable for beginners and old hands, this is a smorgasbord of traditional stitches. nothing too complicated to those new to knitting, and maybe a stitch variation or two to show the experienced something a bit different.

The pattern was originally designed for the 2017 Advent MKAL I ran in the UK. Many people had ordered advent boxes and were thinking about what pattern to use for their 24 miniskeins of surprise colour.

I LOVE miniskeins, but so many people have trouble deciding what to do with them. This pattern looks great with miniskeins in speckled, variegated and solids. It can obviously also be knit in regular size skeins/balls. I also sell Mystery Balls – whatever size you like, suitable for this pattern. You can find them here

Don’t be daunted by the stitches used, they are all explained. But if you do get stuck, just repeat an earlier section that you enjoyed and could do easily. It won’t show at all. The design is suitable for beginners and inexperienced knitters, as well as making good TV knitting for the more expert. As it was designed for an advent box of yarn, the samples shown use 24 miniskeins of 10g each, but any old scraps of about 10g each will work well.
