Let’s say you support your resister sisters but don’t want to show up in a solid pink hat. Let’s say you want to suggest your advocacy subtly but surely. Here you go! A touch of pink creates the “ears” of this kittycat hat, so familiar from the heads of more than 3 million protest marchers in 2017 and 2018.

Or let’s say you’re NOT that political but your head is cold and you want a warm and fuzzy hat in a fiber that won’t make you itch. Here you go!

Knitting with double strands of worsted (acrylic or wool), you can mix yarns in the main section and set it off with a bright hue at the top (say, a nice hot pink?). Or just knit solid or stripes.

It’s an easy stockinette-with-ribbed-edges, knitted flat, seamed invisibly up the side. There are a jillion ways to vamp off this design. Add pompons! Put a (protest) pin on it!

And if you’re a guy brave enough to march with us, your pink-tinged cap sends just the right message.

Download includes photos of the finished hat and a link to learn the invisible seam technique.
