Designed for wearing over a dress, a skirt and top/s, or jeans/leggings and top/s, this little girls raglan coat goes to about 10cm – 4 inches above the knee, and has a retro inspired flare at the back, starting at about the waist level.

Like all minimal knits | DESIGNED kid’s clothes, this coat is made top down and when the knitting is finished all we have to do is weave in the ends and sew on the buttons.

After working the collar, we do a few, very easy short rows to elevate the back neck (there are detailed instructions in the pattern, as well as links to online video and written tutorials). There are no complicated stitches or patterns to remember. The collar, cuffs, hem, button edges and panel on the back above the flare are moss/seed stitch, and all the rest is stocking stitch.

The pictured coat was made using Bendigo Woollen Mills 10ply Luxury 100% machine washable wool, in the colour Aquarium.

Skill Level Easy… even though it might include a technique you haven’t used before, the pattern contains simple, straightforward instructions and notes on where to look for more information.
