Before we headed off for a short cabin retreat, I told my friend Molly I would knit her a quick project during our mini-vacation -- her choice. Flipping through fashion magazines, she came across a Lucky Magazine endorsement of tube scarves: “they’re effortless, they frame the face nicely, and they’re perfect when you want a look that’s ever-so-slightly cleaner than a regular scarf.” She was sold on the idea. I worked with two different wine-colored yarns -- one lace weight, one fingering weight -- to create a mix of textures that liven up a simple tube and make for a more interesting knit. The blend of Knit Picks Gloss and Rowan Kidsilk Haze creates a delightfully soft scarf with the right sheen. Plus, the high-low blend of bargain and luxe yarns is very appropriate for my fashionable friend.
