These oven mitts are made holding two strands of yarn together and it is the perfect thickness to use when taking hot pans out of your oven. I have been using my own oven mitts for years and do not use anything else.

I have used handicrafter cotton and peaches and cream and sugar n cream yarn for these mitts.

If you need a bigger mitt size you can up your needle size which I have done which makes a larger size mitt using the same stitches.

for the optional hanging loop you will need a crochet hook. I used a 4.5 mm hook but you can even use your finger if you don’t have a hook.

The pattern uses garter st and you will need to know how to do increases and decreases.

I did not worry about gauge however I did knit my mitts some what tightly as I didn’t want any gaps in my work that would allow heat through the mitt.

I had a newbie knitter make the pattern without any assistance. So beginner friendly.

Pattern now has 3 sizes. Small child, Large child/woman’s small and Adult.
