Music Note Hunt Afghan
Use this afghan as a game to teach young children to read musical notes. The answer keys are at the top (treble clef notes from Middle C to High C) and bottom (bass clef notes from Low C to Middle C). Students can look at the answer key notes and guess the correct answer. To see if their answer is correct, they can pull out the animal and letter square hidden in the pocket either below the notes (in the treble clef, the pockets are below) or above the notes (in the bass clef, the pockets are above).
Center game board:
Game 1: Matching Animals. Students use the extra toy animals. Students place correct animal on the note it matches with.
Matching guide: C = cat, D = dog, E = elephant, F = fish, G = giraffe, A = alligator, B = butterfly
Game 2: Musical Twister. Teacher calls out note and body part (Right or Left arm, Right or left leg), and student places correct body part on note. Option 1: call out letter name. Option 2: call out type of note (i.e.: quarter note, half note, whole note).
