The N17 is a national road in western Ireland that runs from Galway through Mayo to Sligo. When travelling along that road for the first time, I realized that the scenery indeed looks like in the song ‘N17’ by my favourite Irish band ‘The Saw Doctors’: Stone walls and the grass is green…

The socks are knit in an easy to memorise textured pattern with elongated slipped stitches to represent the many stone walls along the N17.

The socks are knitted cuff down with a heel flap and gusset.
The socks come in two sizes, women’s M to fit leg circumference 19.5 cm (7.5”) and L to fit leg circumference 22.5 cm (9”). Leg length and foot length are adjustable. Leg length results in 23.25 (26) cm 8.5 (9.5)” when knit as given in the pattern.

You can choose to work the stonewall pattern either from the charts or the written instructions.

Material: 1 skein of fingering weight yarn with a yardage of approximately 400 m (440 yds) per 100 g as main colour
Notions: 2 stitch markers, darning needle

The N 17 pattern is also available as part of the Irish at Heart eBook.
