Inspired by the mystery of the Necromancer from Tolkien’s Hobbit, this sock features a leafy motif at the top, some rather simple cables down the leg, and more colorwork at the heel and toe.

Skill Level: Intermediate, due to the colorwork sections and mild cabling

Yarn Recommendations: Two solid sharply contrasting colors of sock yarn; approximately 100 yards of a contrast color, and between 280 and 300 yards of a main color.
Materials: Size 1(2.25mm) sock needles of your choice. The pattern is written in part for DPNs specifically, but Magic Loop knitters can easily use stitch markers to note needle placements. Knitters will also need a cable needle (if they use one), and standard sock tools (tape measure, scissors, and tapestry needle).
