Deep in the Scottish Highlands, a beast dwells in Loch Ness. Few have seen the beast, and even fewer lived to tell the tale. But here, at the Lattes and Llamas Society for Knitterly Cryptid Studies, we have definitive evidence of Nessie’s existence. For the first time in history Nessie has been found……on your socks!

You can participate in the Nessie Expedition by purchasing the pattern only (here), or by purchasing the Lattes & Llamas Kit, which includes yarn only available in the kit, a themed project bag, hand made beaded stitch markers to match your yarn and the pattern. If you purchase the kit you DO NOT need to purchase the pattern separately.

This is a mystery knit-a-long that is delivered in 4 clues. If you purchase this pattern on Ravelry you will receive an update from Ravelry each time the pattern is updated with a new clue. If you purchase the Nessie Expedition kit from Lattes & Llamas and did not provide a Ravelry username you will receive an email with an updated PDF each time a new clue is released.

The 2 socks are different. You will receive different chart instructions for sock one and two. That’s extra fun, we just want you to be emotionally prepared.

We designed and dyed yarn to specifically compliment this pattern. If you purchase the Nessie Kit you will receive 3 balls of yarn: two 50g identical gradient balls and one 100g contrast color ball. When you finish sock one, you should stash any leftover yarn from the first gradient ball and start sock two with the second ball. This way, the gradient on your socks will match.

The MKAL begins on March 30, 2018, and free tutorials to get you ready for flawless color work will be released on the Lattes and Llamas blog on 3/16/2018 and 3/23/2018. If you purchase the pattern here on Ravelry before the first clue is released the pattern will be added to your library, and you’ll be able to download the project sheet. You will automatically receive a notification with a new download in your Ravelry inbox each time a clue is released.
