This pattern uses the techniques of mosaic knitting on the background of a two color garter stitch. Similar to mosaic knitting, every time you slip stitch, the opposing color will come
forward - this is how the lines of knit stitches are brought up throughout the piece.

Because this hat uses mosaic knitting the colorwork is very straightforward - each row uses one color at a time. When you’re finished with one row you just drop that color and pick up the other color. You never have to carry to yarns at once like with fair isle. If you’ve never done mosaic knitting before you might want to try my Skenoto Hat first (link text).

In order to complete this hat you’ll want 150y of each color (worsted weight yarn) and you’ll want to be comfortable with knitting in the round, cabling, and decreases. No matter how comfortable you are with these techniques be sure to read the pattern notes before you get started, a little preparation ahead of time makes all the difference in tackling this pattern.
