Is there anything more casually elegant than crisp, cool linen in the summer sunshine? The Newport Beach Linen Poncho is the perfect accessory for summer. Lightweight, natural linen provides coverage and protection from both wind and sun without the additional warmth of wool. If you’re poolside or at the beach your linen poncho is sturdy, (in fact even stronger when wet), and dries quickly and beautifully, making this poncho a great swimsuit coverup as well.

The poncho begins with updated crocheted squares with a flower motif in the center. The motifs are then joined together before working the edging around the neck and bottom. The poncho can be worked in one solid colour, two colours, or a mixture of colours. The only limit is your personal taste and imagination!

This pattern is appropriate for intermediate crocheters or very adventurous advanced beginners. Not because the the stiches themselves are complicated, but because it helps to have an understanding of basic construction techniques. This pattern is a written pattern only, with no charts or tutorials, which also makes it more suitable for those with some experience with crochet.
