Night is the ninth design of my Einaudi Collection, a series of colourwork designs that each take inspiration from one of Ludovico Einaudi’s musical compositions. Night begins with simple, minimalist motifs, which gradually grow in intensity and complexity to a dramatic climax. Throughout the music, rising sequences of notes creates a sense of radiating outwards, which inspires the focal motif of the colourwork pattern.

CONSTRUCTION
This garment is worked top-down, in the round. After the neckband and first section of colourwork, short row shaping is incorporated to optimise fit. The majority of the yoke features a stranded colourwork pattern. Once the yoke is completed, stitches are separated into body and sleeves, which are each worked separately and in the round. Body and sleeves are worked mainly in stockinette, with the option to add a small band of colourwork before progressing to the waistband and cuffs, each of which are worked in half-twisted ribbing.

SIZING GUIDE
This garment is graded into sizes 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9, 10). Recommended positive ease is 3+” / 7.5+ cm at the chest circumference.

SAMPLE
The wearer is 5’10” / 178 cm with a 37” / 92.5 cm chest circumference. The sample has been worked in size 4, but with an extra 0.5” / 1.5 cm added at each underarm seam, giving the wearer 8” / 20.5 cm of positive ease at the chest. The sleeve extension for the upper sleeve circumference has not been worked. To accommodate the height of the wearer, an extra 0.5” / 1.5 cm of depth has been added to the yoke, and an extra 2” / 5 cm of length has been added to the body and sleeve length.

GAUGE
gauge, 26 stitches over 36 rounds in both stockinette stitch and colourwork, wet blocked, creates a 4x4” / 10x10 cm square.
Neckband, waistband and cuff circumferences assume you are working 7 sts per 1” / 2.5 cm.

YARN
The sample has been worked using Miss Babs’ Yummy 2-ply base (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 365 m / 400 yds per 110 g) in colourways Dark Pegasus as the Main Colour and Earl Grey as the Contrast Colour.
