ONES AND ZEROES is a top-down, bandana-style cowl alternating bands of 1x2 twisted rib with a symmetrical mesh lace. Perfect for early spring or fall, ONES AND ZEROES is easy to throw on during those not-quite-warm-enough days that still have a bit of bite to the breeze.

This pattern is for you if… You like very short repeats that are easy to memorize.

Move along if… You’re prone to forgetting your stitch increases.

SIZE/MEASUREMENTS
One size:

• 20.5”/52cm circumference at neck opening
• 45.5”/116cm circumference at bottom edge
• 23.75”/60cm long along front centre spine

YARN
Approximately 545 yards (498 meters) / 100 grams (3.5oz) heavy lace / light fingering weight yarn that produces a nice drape when knit to gauge.

Sample knit with: The Fibre Co. Meadow (545 yards/498 meters per 100 grams/3.5oz skein; 40% Merino wool, 25% baby llama, 20% silk, 15% linen; 1 skein used); check Yarn Sub for other options.

Note: if using a standard fingering-weight yarn (instead of light fingering), you may get to a length you enjoy before finishing out the final section(s) of the pattern, allowing you to use less yardage than suggested. This will differ for each yarn & knitter, but I offer no predictions as to whether this will apply to you.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS

• 1 US 6/4mm 32”/81cm circular needle, or size necessary to obtain gauge
• 1 US 7/4.5mm 32”/81cm circular needle, or size necessary to obtain gauge
• stitch markers
• tapestry needle for weaving in ends

GAUGE
All measurements are taken from washed and blocked knitting, unstretched.

• Per 4”/10cm in Ones motif worked flat: 32 stitches / 42 rows
• Per 4”/10cm in Ones motif worked in the round: 31stitches / 42 rounds
• Per Section between garter stitch borders: 2.25”/5.7cm tall
