This is a simple and easy headband pattern worked flat with single pointed knitting needles. The pattern was inspired by the opuntia (prickly pear) cactus, which has a shape similar to that of the central cable motif and texture like the seed stitch edging. The seed stitch borders also act as a decorative selvedge that does not need additional work to make it look neat.

The headband can be made as long (or short) as desired. As a result, row gauge is not important here.

Within the actual pattern, stitch gauge is given over the central cable pattern after blocking of the piece.

The headband may be worn with the decorative buttons in the front, side, or back.
