The design is also available as a yarn kit by fraukuhn.

In Autumn 2022, Simone from the LYS fraukuhn, generously gave me a heap of store samples worked with discontinued yarns. I had requested the pieces based on the idea of using them as a starting material to work various afterthought techniques, from embroidery and pleating, to fabric manipulation via sewing.

This idea gave birth to The Stitching Experiments Project. While I was working on the various individual pieces, I eventually created the first Oriito Scarf. I was really excited about the result and showed it to Simone. We both liked it so much, we decided to recreate it.

In the spirit of the SEP, making something new out of existing materials, we decided to look into the existing yarn collection of the store to find interesting yarns that would play well together and highlight both the stitch pattern as well as the final result.

And we came up with two versions, the Oriito Aran and the Oriito Sport designs.

We hope that our finished examples also inspire you to dive into your stash and make something truly gorgeous.

Oriito in Japanese means ‘folded yarn’ (such as origami means ‘folded paper’).

Instructions are given in written abbreviated form.
