Rudolph the Reindeer Jacket Knitting Pattern P116
Children’s Christmas Jacket to fit from 2 to 11 years old
Cabled yoke
Rudolph the Reindeer motif
Knitted using double knitting wool
Pattern is written in English
Knit our Rudolph the Reindeer Jacket which features two adorable Rudolphs on the back and one on either side of the front, each with their bright red noses.
Knitted using double knitting (DK) wool, the jacket is shaped with a beautifully textured cabled yoke, a three button fastening at the yoke and ribbed edges.
Design:
The Jacket has Rudolph the Reindeer motifs to the front and back. The Jacket is fastened at the yoke by 3 buttons.
The back, left side, right side and sleeves are knitted separately up to yoke and then slipped onto same needle to complete the yoke which has an attractive cable design. The sleeves and side seams are sewn together. Stitches are picked up for the front button/buttonhole bands. A chart is provided to follow for the motifs.
Sizes:
The pattern includes 5 sizes to fit a child: 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9 and 10-11 years old.
Skill:
Intermediate. Written instructions provided, but you will also need experience of working from a chart to complete the motif and working with a cable needle for the yoke.
Yarn:
Double knitting wool is required wool (an alternative for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the jacket knitted using Stylecraft Special DK in shades Lipstick (1246), White (1001), Walnut (1054), Dark Brown (1004) and Black (1002).
Tension:
22 sts and 28 rows to 10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles:
Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
Other requirements:
1 cable needle (size 4 mm needle)
Stitch holders
3 buttons
We also recommend a small crochet hook to help pull the yarn through for making the small pompom noses.
