It’s not just that it’s a great, beautiful, breathtaking laceweight skirt. It’s that Potter has you knit all the individual panels in a natural colour, and then provides detailed instructions (and helpful colour photographs) for dyeing them yourself to come up with the stunning effect you see here. She adds a lace panel at the bottom of each section for extra interest and femininity. The knitting itself is quite simple, modular almost, in that you can take the pieces with you as travel knitting very easily. If the dye-it-yourself idea scares you, you can of course use the handdyed version of the yarn. But the result here is just remarkable.

Supersock Select Lace is a new lace weight version of Supersock Select. It is spun from the same top as our low micron Supersock and the softness next to your skin makes you want to get out your lace charts and begin.

The pattern features lots of color photos regarding how to knit and paint the skirt.

It calls for undyed hanks of Supersock Lace and Dye Kits which are the Cherry Tree Hill Dye Samplers, available at Indie Dyer.

This design takes 6 hanks for the size small as shown, 7 hanks for a medium and 8 for a large. You can adjust the sizes further with the elastic waist band.
