A different shawl with a sagittal shape inspired by the trees’ roots and the leaves’ veins. When I designed Paradisia, I wanted to create a shawl with a fantastic and romantic essence that you can wear in many ways. This shawl combines garter stitch stripes with short row shaping, so it’s perfect for knitting relaxed but keeping your concentration on the work.

One size

Finished measurements

Total length of the central spine: 80 cm / 31.5”.
Total side length: 175 cm / 69”.

Notes on construction
Paradisia is a shawl shaped like a sagittate leaf. It’s knitted from bottom to top, creating increases on both sides of the piece and a double-centred decrease creating a middle spine. In the end, the shawl is divided into two tongues of sections of short turns with which we close the garment.

YARN

Amounts may vary because of the type of yarn, personal gauge, and any changes made to the pattern.

C1 - 100 g / 384 m / 420 yds - Fingering Weight Single Merino in a variegated colour.

C2 - 50 g / 384 m / 420 yds - Lace Weight KidSilk Mohair in a semi-solid colour.

Suggested yarn

C1: 1 skein of Tml + Glitter | Dried but not forgotten -Madelinetosh fingering weight | single-ply (100 g / 384 m; 3.53 oz / 420 yd; 90% Superwash Merino wool / 8% Acrylic / 2% Stellina).
Colour #speckledlightgreen
C2 :* - 1 skein of Impression | Joshua tree - Madelinetoshlace weight | single-ply (50 g / 384 m; 3.53 oz / 420 yd; 70% Mohair | 30% Silk).
Colour #darkgreen

Yarn B can be replaced by any fingering yarn.*

NEEDLES

Circular needles of 3.25 mm / 80 cm US 3/32” circular needle or the required needle size to obtain the correct gauge.

Note: On the horns sections of the shawl, you may need to switch to a 120cm / 47.25” cable to accommodate the stitches. To cast off the stitches, it is recommended to use 5 mm / US 8, so the end is not tight.

OTHER ACCESSORIES

Tapestry needle, markers.

GAUGE

21 stitches and 38 rounds = 4 x 4” 10 x 10 cm in stocking stitch worked FLAT on the 3.25 mm / US 3 needles after blocking.
Being a shawl, the gauge is not essential, but it can change your yarn requirements if not adjusted properly.

TECHNIQUES

Long-tail cast-on.
Elastic bind-off.
German short rows.

Medidas finales

Largo total espina central: 80 cm / 31.5 “.
Largo total lateral: 175 cm / 69 “.

Hilo recomendado

C1: 1 madeja de Tml + Glitter | Dried but not forgotten - Madelinetosh grosor fingering | single-ply ( 100 g / 384 m; 3.53 oz / 420 yd; 90% Superwash Merino wool / 8% Acrylic / 2% Stellina). Color #speckledlightgreen
C2:* 1 madeja de Impression | Joshua tree - Madelinetoshgrosor lace weight | single-ply (50 g / 384 m; 3.53 oz / 420 yd; ; 70% Mohair | 30% Silk). Color #darkgreen
