The Peace Square:
This peaceful Granny Square is designed to be relaxing to create, using basic stitches including single crochet, half double and double crochet. There are some post stitches which may stretch you a little, however once you get the hang of them, and find your rhythm, they’re so enjoyable to make. The pattern repeats itself visually, giving the appearance of the ripples created in peaceful waters when you drop a pebble in. I hope that you enjoy the experience of creating your own Peace Square.

This Pattern is available in both US and UK terminology in separate PDFs.

There are many pages of step by step photos to help you throughout, as well as a FULL chart at the end of the document if you would prefer to follow a chart!
.
This Square pattern is for a 50cm finished product, however it is easy to repeat the pattern to make it as large as you would like to. It also looks wonderful made into a smaller square, so use your imagination and you can design your own granny square blanket made up of many Peace Squares if you desire!

If you choose to use different yarn, and if your tension is different to mine, your yardage may vary from the above.

Hook size: 4mm/ Size G-6 US (or use the hook that matches your yarn and tension)

This pattern has been successfully created with many various types of yarn and corresponding hooks. It was originally created for the inaugural Crochet Tournament 2020, organised by Crochet Australia with patterns from Shelley Husband - Spincushions, Emily Littlefair - The Loopy Stitch and Joy Clements - Crochet Road.

Gauge: Using a 4mm Clover Amour crochet hook, with Scheepjes Catona yarn, my gauge square measured 9.5 cm square after 4 complete rounds.
To match gauge - create a 4 round traditional Granny Square with your yarn using a 4mm hook. If your square is larger than mine, try decreasing your hook size by 1mm, and remake the square. If your square is smaller than mine try increasing your hook size by 1mm and re make the square.
