Welcome to Pelletier! [pɛlətieɪ]

Pelletier starts with a headband in garter stitch, continues with leaves created with increases and decreases, and it ends with a detail of short i-cord. Looking at the sides you will see leaves but looking at the top of the beret you will see a star!

I wish I could use chlorophyll to knit, holding it together with the normal yarn. Wouldn’t it be amazing? To wear a beret, that could breathe, that could catch CO₂ from the atmosphere and transform it into oxygen (and carbohydrates, of course). Thus we all could help fight the climate change while reducing carbon dioxide, warming our planet, and producing oxygen, essential to life.

I wish it would be that easy. I know it’s hard for almost all of us in the “developed world” to change, to change our lifestyles, so we could adapt and also mitigate our impact. Wearing chlorophyll on the top of our heads would be much easier.

YARN
155–160 metres (170–175 yards) of Schoppel-Wolle Reggae (apr. 1.5 skeins for all sizes) or other Aran weight yarn (100 metres or 109 yards / 50 g).

NEEDLES
Circular needles or DPNs.
Smaller needles: 3.5 mm = US 4
Larger needles: 4.5 mm = US 7

GAUGE
24 sts × 50 rows (10×10 cm) in garter stitch using smaller needles without blocking
22 sts × 30 rows (10×10 cm) in stockinette stitch using larger needles without blocking

SIZE
To fit circumference 48(50, 52)(54, 56) cm = 18.9(19.7, 20.5)(21.3, 22.0) inches.
