Pink It Up shawl is about my personal relationship with the color pink. I’ve always considered pink as a girly-girl color, and as much as my mom wanted me to be girly I wasn’t having it. As a mother myself, I was forced to dress my girl in pink because most of the clothing for little girls is pink. I’ve learned that I don’t hate the color as much as I thought. And a few years ago as I was buying new pink sneakers for my girl, I’ve decided to get myself a matching pair. Every time I looked at my bright pink sneakers I felt joy. After that, I’ve started intentionally picking pink for myself. Pink purse, pink headphones, pink scarf, pink jacket… It took years, but now I can say that I’m a pink person, and not girly at all, because I don’t have to change myself to enjoy pink or any other color for that matter.

Pink It Up is about embracing new colors, from little speckles to wider ribbons of easy lace on a neutral stockinette background. You can choose how many colors you want in your shawl. You can work more or fewer repeats in each section. You can even alternate the first 2 sections. You can use multiple colors, leftovers, gradient yarns. It’s your choice! Pink It Up!
