Puffing Billy is the name of the oldest surviving steam train in the world, currently housed in Northumberland. The jumper of the same name is knitted in parts to the yoke where it is continued in rounds. A steam train with a plume of smoke pulls nine carriages around the top. There are railway track designs at the cuffs and lower edges. I used Willow and Lark poetry but any DK yarn of the same gauge would work with this pattern. Between 400 - 600g of yarn are required depending on size. Only small amounts of the contrasting colours are needed. Instructions are given for approximate ages 1 to 8 years. If you have any little train enthusiasts in your family, this pattern will be sure to delight them.
