This shawl starts with a garter tab and ends with a knitted-on border (you knit it perpendicularly to the shawl while binding-off the live sts). The yarn for this is a lofty, softly spun bulky yarn which really makes this shawl light and springy but still quite cozy warm.

I called this shawl “Raleigh Wrap” since I designed it prior to a recent road-trip to visit dear friends in Raleigh, NC. The hostess of the family is always chilly so I am going to gift her the original, which she inspired, with her lovely cozy ways (even in the midst of a Carolina Cooker … its was in the 90s the entire visit!).
