This tidy, delightful Ram Head token is a wonderful little project for celebrating the Aries babies in your life. It is a fairly quick knit, and accessible for beginner to intermediate level knitters. The most advanced technique that the pattern calls for is Short Rows. I’ve included instructions for a particular style of eye embroidery, however for a less fussy version, you may substitute simple black dots instead by way of safety eyes, French knots, or chain stitches instead. Finished head measures about 2.5” in height

MATERIALS:
5 g Heavy Worsted or Aran Weight Main Color
Scrap amt. Contrast Clr. same wt as above (opt.)
3 g Sport Weight for Horns
Embroidery thread black, white for face features
Black Beads or safety eyes. (optional)

NOTIONS:
Pair US 6 / 4 mm knitting needles
US 3 / 3.25mm (horns)
Embroidery, Sewing needles

SKILLS:
Basic knitting technique, with rudimentary sewing up and embroidery. Short rows.

You may wish to work the Head in the round. The Horns are expressed through garter stitch, but it is perfectly acceptable to work these in stockinette stitch if you wish.

GAUGE:
Different size needles and yarn can be substituted. Gauge is not important so long as the needles are somewhat smaller than specified for the weight of the selected yarn. This allows for a tighter knit and prevents stuffing from showing through the work.
You may use bulkier yarn and slightly bigger needles for working Head/Ears, while retaining size US 3 needles suggested for the horns. If making a much bigger head, you may upgrade to size US 4 or 5 needles and worsted weight yarn for the horns.
