Reforestation was inspired by the interior forests of BC where new growth is constantly taking over the old growth despite pine beetle, despite forest fires, despite harvest. Driving through the beautiful mountainous forests of BC to my childhood home never fails to take my breath away.

I was also inspired by the Canadian Alpaca Plus yarn, which was dying to be knit into a hat. In the cold interior winters with the sharp unforgiving air, there is nothing better than a soft, warm, insulated knit. This squishy merino/alpaca mix is the perfect fit.

Reforestation is knit bottom up with charted cables that can either be accomplished with a cable needle or with clever knitting, explained within. The crown of the hat is fully charted and is identical for each individual size.
