As someone who loves challenges, enjoys birds, and is always looking for ways to use up scrap yarns and mindless projects, I took on the challenge of reworking the pattern to be knitted back and forth (rather than in the round), which would need sewing to complete it. This is a quick recipe pattern for a knitted bird nest when you don’t want to work in the round or knit in such a small circumference.

We recommend 2 smooth, washable natural fibers held together. You can adjust this pattern to work with any stash yarn, you only need small amounts of yarn for each nest. Needle size will depend on yarns you choose and a tighter gauge is helpful so the nest can stand up on its own.

We will be collecting these nests for this amazing bird rescue Liberty Wildlife.
