I have been dreaming of making this cowl for weeks. First I had to practice on the “Paumanok Cowls”, all the while day-dreaming of this one.

Finally I dug through my stash, and found the leftovers from my precious Bittersweet Woolery’s Guilty Pleasures sock yarn, and knew I had my inspiration.

First I recrocheted a new model of my “Rose’s Guilty Pleasure” shawl to remember how it was made. Then I changed the increasing around somewhat to refine the shape, and simplified the edging using a modified version of the much-loved “Disou’s Edging” from my Fern Lace shawl. Once I made up my mind, it really crocheted up very quickly.

If you just keep going, you will have a nice shawl, but I stopped after 17 rows to make it cowl-sized. Or, a small child’s shawl…

So if you have a half skein of fingering weight yarn, go for it!
