Get your Christmas tree ready for gifts with this rustic, monogrammed tree skirt! Already have a tree skirt you love? Time to buy another tree!!! Just kidding!

All kidding aside, if you already have a tree skirt, how about gifting one of these to newlyweds to place under their first tree as a married couple? Wouldn’t that be an awesome gift to give them? Keep it a surprise, but if you don’t know, ask someone to find out their holiday decor colors so you can make this tree skirt to coordinate with their style. Or, stick with something classic and neutral. No matter what, they will be in awe of your thoughtfulness, and this tree skirt will last a lifetime, bringing a little extra joy to them each Christmas.

The main body of this tree skirt is made with single crochet stitches to create a tight, sturdy weave, and allow for your lettering to be the star. Single crochet increases are strategically placed in each row to create a circle that doesn’t take on a pinwheel effect, and without creating a hexagonal or octagonal shape, as is often seen with tree skirts.

The border is ribbing made with front post and back post double crochet stitches, which add texture and a pop of contrast, though it would look beautiful in the main body color too.

There is a chart included for making the letters. They are cross-stitched on top of the finished tree skirt, so there is no planning their location until after you’re done. Also included are instructions on how to cross-stitch on top of a finished crochet project. If you’ve never done it before, don’t worry, it’s very simple.

You can customize the lettering with a name, leave it blank or add holiday words like “Peace” or “Noel”.
