The Sanquhar pattern is a variety of patterns developed over the past few hundred years, in the former Royal Burgh of Sanuqhar. A small town in Dumfriesshire south Scotland, not far from where I live.
Traditionally the colours were black and white, generally highly contrasting colours and knitted into gloves and stockings using the patterns. They were a way to help supplement household incomes. The Sanquhar design has been handed down from generation to generation to this day.

The pattern contains 16 colour pages with very clear designs to enable you to make the mitts, all you need is a 20 - 25cm circular knitting needle. There are 3 different designs to choose from.

There are no complex increases and decreases or fingers or gussets required in the knitting, allowing you to enjoy the knitting without too much thinking. Plus a small steek for the thumb.
