The Santa Maria Maggiore Rug is based on a travel story to a likewise named church in Rome. It was the second chapter of my book Journey and Crochet Journey. The books are retiring soon; therefore, the patterns are also available individually as a download.

Some general information about the Santa Maria Maggiore Rug:

Yarn requirements for this pattern:
38 times 10 grams of Scheepjes Stonewashed/Riverwashed (a color pack is a good option). Besides that, 8 balls of 50 grams Scheepjes Stonewashed 803 Black Onyx and 1 ball of 50 grams Scheepjes Stonewashed 801 Moonstone is required. Scheepjes Stonewashed and Riverwashed come in balls of 50 grams with a length of 142 yards of yarn. It consists out of 78% cotton and 22% acrylic.

Take note that some people didn’t had enough yarn out of the 10 grams balls. This is mostly happening to crocheters with a loose tension.

Crochet hook(s) needed: 4.0 mm crochet hook

Size: The size of a whole and half motif will be 12 inches from point to point. The finished rug will be approximately 47 inches from point to point.

The pattern contains written instructions guided by a chart. It is available in English (US terms) and Dutch. After purchase, you can download a PDF file in your preferred language.

You can also get the e-book with all 12 patterns in it if you prefer this option. It has a discount of at least 30% off in compensation for buying all patterns individually. You can find it here.
