I found that I could say things with colors and shapes, that I couldn’t say any other way. --Georgia O’Keefe

American artist Georgia O’Keefe is known for her love of intense colors and her bold paintings of large flowers and New Mexico scenes. In the fiber world those who love yarn also love color! Finding the perfect yarn with our favorite fiber and color is all the inspiration we need to start creating our next crochet or knit project.

I created this scarf with the gorgeous hand-dyed Yarn Carnival High Wire fingering weight yarn for my local yarn store, Tinsmith’s Wife in Comfort, Texas, for their 11th anniversary party.

Say It With Color is crocheted sideways starting at one tip and ending at the other tip, forming an easy-to-wear boomerang-shaped scarf. The stitch pattern creates interesting diagonals and small oval openings across the scarf with a decorative bottom edge.

I used High Wire fingering (490 yards/100 grams) in the color “Hibiscus Heat” for my scarf. Check out all of the gorgeous colors at www.yarncarnival.com, grab your crochet hook and get busy and Say It With Color!
