Thank you so much for having a look at my new pattern: Scraptacular! Sock Collection - Cuff Down Construction.

This pattern is also available in Toe Up constuction which can be found here: Scraptacular Socks Toe Up

The pattern is a collection, of three socks, designed to use all those lovely little bits and bobs of scrap sock yarn hiding in your stash. I wanted some super approachable, beginner appropriate, but still engaging and fun stranded colourwork patterns. Think easy, intuitive repeats, perfect for TV knitting and endless possibilities to use up that stash!

Crystalline Socks- Ultimate scrappy sock! The easiest colourwork ever, perfect for beginner, but super addicting lol…simply alternating 1 x 1 stranded knitting and rounds of 1 colour st st.

Agate Socks - pretty little gems with striations of colour! Approachable stranded knitting, with an intuitive repeat. Have a mini skein set you’d love to use? This is a great pattern for those!

Fairy Ring Socks - Delicate rings of colour on a main colour background. These will have you tip toeing through the forest in no time. Easy colourwork, and limitless colour opportunities.

The knitting is vanilla/beginner sock level; there are 4 adult sizes and the sock is constructed from the cuff down.

These patterns come with a short row heel construction or use the Fish Lips Kiss Heel (a separate purchase from the SoxTherapist

Skills Required
Judy’s Magic Cast-on, working in the round, knit, purl, German short rows or Fish Lips Kiss Heel, increasing, decreasing, stranded colourwork knitting, bind off using a stretchy method.

Materials

Yardage: 300 (350, 410, 460) yds/274 (320, 375, 420) m TOTAL fingering weight yarn. Yardage is an estimate and is impacted by yarn used, knitter gauge, length of sock foot and/or leg knitted.

Sample Yarn Used:
Each sock was constructed using a collection of different mini skeins and scraps from my stash.

Crystalline Socks – For these socks you will need a minimum of 2 different colours with good contrast. However, you can make these socks with a new yarn for each repeat for the ultimate scrappy pair of socks. Approx. 5 yds/4.5 m of CC per pattern rep is used. I used a variety of sock yarns for this pair including: Brine Dyeworks in colours Black Trumpet, Mineral, Dirty Weather and two of the minis from her Marie Antoinette Colour in Film set (pale blue, and rose pink); Direful Yarns sock yarn in colours Marilyn Munster and Herman Munster; and Barnyard Knits sock yarn in Pheasant.

Gauge: 34 sts and 30 rounds/10 cm or 4”, in the round, in pattern.

Agate Socks – These socks are designed to use five+ 20 g/93 yds (85 m) mini skeins/equivalent amount of scrap/leftover yarn. I used Brine Dyeworks sock yarn in Nori; Barnyard Knits sock yarn in Lemongrass Tea and Pheasant; Direful Yarns sock yarn in Bubak; Woolberry Fiber Co BFL sock yarn in Cherry Blossom.

Gauge: 34 sts and 36 rounds/10 cm or 4”, in the round, in pattern.

Fairy Ring Socks – These socks are designed to use one MC along with your choice of contrast colours. Make the Fairy Rings all the same, or use different colours. Approx. 5 yds/4.5 m of CC per Fairy Ring. I used Woolberry Fiber Co BFL sock yarn in Cherry Blossom as my MC, and In the Stillness for one of the Fairy Rings CC; Brine Dyeworks in Nori, Dirty Weather and Dark Chocolate as Fairy Rings; Barnyard Knits in Lemongrass Tea as a Fairy Ring CC.

Gauge: 34 sts and 40 rounds/10 cm or 4”, in the round, in pattern.

Suggested Needles:
2.5mm/US 1.5, 80cm/32” length for magic loop OR size(s) needed to obtain gauge. Many knitters prefer to knit colourwork with needles 1-2 sizes larger to maintain gauge.

US Shoe Size: Ladies 4-6.5, (Ladies 7-9.5/Mens 6-8.5, Ladies 10-12.5/Mens 9-11.5, Ladies 12.5/Mens 11.5-13)

Size: 1 (small), 2 (medium), 3 (large), 4(x-large)
