“Sing me a song of a lass that is gone, say could that lass be I?
Merry of soul she sailed on a day, over the sea to Skye.”

Outlander fans know this iconic theme song by heart. In the series, Claire traveled backwards in time by 200 years and found Jamie Fraser, the love of her life.

For Valentines Day 2024, I present my “Sing Me a Song” cowl, an easy-to-crochet and easy-to-wear crochet neck warmer with a stitch pattern that has a ribbed look.

The instructions (written and charted) are for an adult S/M and L size, and I have included easy instructions to adapt the neck warmer to any neck circumference you choose. The neck size is designed to gently slip over the head without a lot of open drape for optimum warmth.

You will need about 140 yards of worsted weight yarn and I used one ball of Knit Picks Chroma Worsted (198 yards/100 grams, worsted) that has beautiful long color changes. The color shown is “Red Velvet”.

I used a worsted weight yarn and because the stopping point is measured, you can adapt this pattern to any weight yarn. You can use a color gradient yarn as shown, or use a solid or variegated color.

Sing me a Song is a great stash busting project and you probably have enough yarn to for this cowl in your stash right now!
