South Alamo Street is in the heart of the Southtown neighborhood in San Antonio, Texas —sweltering hot, colorful, funky, and contains maybe one too many hipsters. This street inspired this fun hot pink and black wrap! My unique shawl uses mosaic colorwork, and is worked in two identical pieces and then grafted together. Mosaic or slip stitch knitting is a great introduction to colorwork—only one color is worked at a time!

Measurements
Depth: 15.5” (40 cm)
Length along long edge: 75” (190.5 cm)

Gauge
21 St / 48 Rows = 4”/10 cm in Slip Stitch Pattern (included in pattern) using larger needles (US 6 (4.0 mm)) after a light blocking.

Exact gauge is not critical, but because the wrap requires nearly the entire skein of each color, deviation from the gauge will affect the size of the shawl and yarn requirements

Recommended Yarn:
One skein each of:

  • Color A (Light Pink): Potion Yarns “Foxy Sock-Super Fine” (80% SW Merino, 20% Nylon) Fingering wt, 400 yds (366 m), 3.5 oz (100 g) in Lawn Flamingo (Approx. 390 yds (357 m) needed)
  • Color B (Neon Pink): Potion Yarns “Foxy Sock-Super Fine” (80% SW Merino, 20% Nylon) Fingering wt, 400 yds (366 m), 3.5 oz (100 g) in Man Eater (Approx. 390 yds (357 m) needed)
  • Color C (Black): Potion Yarns “Seductress Sock-Super Fine” (75% SW Merino, 20% Nylon, 5% Stellina) Fingering wt, 438 yds (400 m), 3.5oz (100 g) in Samhain (Approx. 375 yds (343 m) needed)

Or similar weight yarn to achieve gauge

Notions:

  • US5 (3.75 mm) circular needle, at least 40”/100 cm long
  • 2 sets of US6 (4.0 mm) circular needle, or size to obtain gauge, at least 40”/100 cm long (the second set is only used at the end for grafting - if desired you can use the smaller needle instead)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers (1 removable marker, 2 unique markers, and 6 additional markers)
  • Waste yarn

Pattern Notes: The pattern includes written instructions for all elements except the colorwork. The colorwork is only charted.
