With Halloween just round the corner, pumpkins, skeletons and all kinds of spooky creatures of the night are appearing everywhere. Why not on your socks as well? Knit a spooktacular pumpkin sock and a bat-tastic companion to avoid second sock syndrome: A bit of fun, seasonally appropriate colourwork and lots of relaxing stockinette make these socks a quick knit, perfect for the next Halloween party.

These socks are a blank canvas: Put the charts on your favourite vanilla sock pattern, going with the heel and toe construction you prefer. Do stripes all over the sock. Even alternate the colourwork motifs allover. Go wild!

Size:
Sizes S (M, L) with a stitch count of 60 (72, 84). The foot circumference at the suggested gauge is 16,5cm (20cm, 23,5cm). Length can easily adjusted in the stockinette part.

Gauge:
36 stitches/10cm in stockinette on smaller needles

This will result in a very dense fabric. If you have knit socks before, feel free to adjust the gauge. The four sizes use 60, 72 and 84 stitches in the texture part, so choose your size based on that number and your preferred stitch count for vanilla socks.

Yarn:
The samples used Lana Grossa Meilenweit Tweed. Any regular fingering weight sock yarn in solid or semisolid colours will work well. Using variegated or even speckled yarns might also lead to interesting results, but keep the contrast to the between the colours used next to each other high enough.

Materials:
pprox. 50g of C1 yarn (orange)
approx. 50g of C2 yarn (black)

2mm DPNs or needles for magic loop or size required to get gauge
