I have two versions of this pattern: one for worsted weight shown in cotton chenille
and one using fingering weight or sock yarn, shown in a Brown Sheep sock Wildfoote.

The cotton Chenille does not wear as well over time with many washings, & starts looking pretty ragged.

The sock yarn version is knit at a tighter gauge and washes well and wears like a sock! feels good on the skin when wearing it around my neck on my stethoscope.
