In the background, the meteorologist’s voice drifts from the tv. An immense storm is en route. Clouds darken the sky, hanging low and purple over the horizon. The air smells like rain, but it could turn over to snow. No knowing with a storm like this. The pine trees loom silently, still, and all those that they shelter have already nestled into their warm homes. The cabin is solid and ready for the impending storm, lights aglow and woodstove stoked.
