Description
This simple yet interesting cowl pattern features a beautiful mock honeycomb stitch. The stitch pattern is quite easy yet interesting to knit and produces a lovely texture on both the right and wrong sides, making this a suitable project for beginning knitters as well as a fun project for those with more experience. With just the right amount of squish, this cozy cowl is the perfect accessory for keeping nice and warm.

Credit must be give to Lindsey Faciane of The Chesapeake Needle for inspiring this pattern. Her Storyteller Hat pattern, which I test knitted for her, heavily inspired this design.

Measurements
The finished cowl measures approximately 12.5” long and 30” in circumference, though it is easy to customize based on individual preferences.

Gauge and Sizing
The gauge for the sample knit is 19 sts x 19 rows = 4” in mock honeycomb stitch. For accessories like this cowl, where fit is not quite as important as in a garment, gauge also becomes less important. What really matters is getting a knitted material you will want to wear with the yarn you have chosen, which might require some experimentation. Have fun, and don’t feel too tightly bound to the pattern specifications.

Yarn
I managed to snag two skeins of this gorgeous colorway from indie dyer Kenyarn, and while this colorway is unfortunately no longer available, he has plenty of other gorgeous yarn in this wonderfully squishy DK base. Really though, any DK or light worsted yarn will work, and you’ll need about 370 yards.
