For the last couple of years, I’ve been attempting to be more eco-concious. It has actually been more challenging than I than I expected, due to the higher cost of organic produce, the ever-increasing use of plastic packaging materials, and the availability of grass-fed meats. I do put as much as possible in the recycle bin, and I use only glass containers in the microwave. I don’t enjoy cooking, though, which adds to the challenge of reducing my use of prepackaged foods. But I can knit! So here is my Preservation collection ~ three shawls designed as a tribute to my efforts to go green ~ Hayfield, Restated, and Sustain.

Light and airy for summer, this asymmetrical shawl uses lace, garter stitch and yarnovers to create a drapey accessory. I used a locally sourced bamboo yarn for my sample, and am very happy with the results!. The design is worked either from charts or the full written instructions. Use any yarn weight up to DK, adjusting your yarn requirements accordingly.

Materials used for sample (weighs 91g):
Fiberlady Mousou ~ 1 skein
a row counter is very helpful for this pattern
