This cowl is knit in the round using an I-cord cast-on and bind-off, featuring an addictive herringbone brioche pattern in two contrasting colours.
Both the small and the large are approximately 6.5” tall. The small is a single loop while the large can be wrapped around twice. Size can be modified easily.
Yardage:
Small: colour A: 108 yards (99 meters); colour B: 85 yards (78 meters)
Large: colour A: 215 yards (197 meters); colour B: 195 yards (178 meters)

The herringbone brioche pattern is adapted from Nancy Marchant’s book Knitting Fresh Brioche.

There are now three options for PDF download: the original, which includes photos and a photo tutorial of grafting the i-cord ends, a simpler one that includes only the text and chart (so it’s a much smaller file), and a low vision accessible version. The text-only and low vision accessible versions do not have instructions for grafting.

Thank you to MarianneHo for translating to Danish, available here.

Low Vision Accessibility: This pattern is available in a low vision accessible format as a separate PDF with the pattern file name in ALL CAPS LVA. It is written in 24 point Arial font in all black text on a white background. All text is left-justified and has no italics. All of the directions are fully written out. There is a chart included but the chart is not needed to complete the pattern. This pattern is also screen reader accessible and has been reviewed and tested to work with a screen reader. It does not contain any parentheses. Special thanks to momcook for her guidance and testing.
