Meaning ‘lucky or happy’, Taalay reflects the way our designer, Paula Pereira, feels when working with June Cashmere yarn, a feeling she wanted to experience year-round. Hence she created this wonderful vest in our DK weight yarn, meant for warmth on cool summer nights and cold winter layering.

Taalay also is a common boy’s name in Kyrgyzstan, which is fitting as boys in the shepherd families are responsible for herding the goats, feeding them, helping with spring combing, and often delivering the family’s fiber to be sold at our village collection points. We always say that the entire shepherd family is involved in providing the fiber that becomes our beautiful yarn. How fitting that we honor and value the boys with the name of this vest and remember that we are lucky to be recipients of their hard work!
