Tali is a baby turtle who loves to spend her day in the sun. She isn’t very quick but she enjoys exploring new beaches and waterways.

Tali the Turtle is a part of my Baby Sea Creatures collection – there’s six cute designs available as individual patterns or as an e-book. A special thanks for Hobium Yarns who sponsored the yarn for the collection, I’ve used Hello Knitting Yarn (DK Cotton) for all the designs.

Tali is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terminology. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.

Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item. My Tali is approx. 11cm long, 8cm tall.

You will receive one PDF file which requires software like Adobe Reader to open (this is free to download).

You will need:

  • 2.5mm hook/C-2 (US)
  • 8ply yarns/DK – 50g of GREEN, BLUE and PINK
  • BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
  • A pair of 9mm safety eyes
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Polyester toy stuffing
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Notes:

  • Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
  • When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
  • Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight. I’ve used Hello Knitting Yarn (DK Cotton) in the following colours: o GREEN = Baby Green 138 o BLUE = Cyan 151 o PINK = Light Pink 101
  • I have used safety eyes but you may choose to embroider. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
