Fluffy crocheted bear ears! I used Red Heart Soft in Toast for the furry outer ear part, and Loops & Threads Impeccable in Soft Rose for the inner ear part. Using a softer yarn makes the fluffing process a lot easier, and the soft texture of the yarn just makes nicer fluff. You’ll need a grooming brush to make the yarn fluffy.
You could use any hook you want, but I wouldn’t go too much bigger than a size “F” or the holes in the stitches might be more noticeable. I think a “B” or an “E” hook is perfect for this project.
I used a very small amount of yarn for my ears, much less than a full skein, so you might be able to get away with making these with scrap yarn.
To attach the costume ears to my hair, I used a lot of bobby pins. Because of the holes in the crochet, sticking pins through the ears is easy, and if you have some really good clips you can stick them anywhere on your head. If you use bobby pins, you might need a ton though. I used about 12 I think. Using clips is a lot easier, but I couldn’t find any.
I also made a tiny, doll sized version of the ears for my basic amigurumi doll pattern, so you can use this technique for making teddy bear ears as well. Instructions for both the larger costume size ears and the smaller doll sized ears provided in this pattern.
