The THAR tank top, which is named after the Great Indian Desert in the state of Rajasthan, is totally customisable. It has a lace section on the bottom which can either be worked with a straight or a tapered edge. Also you can choose from two different necklines: a round neckline and a v-neck. By combining these four options in different ways for the front and the back, there are 10 possible resulting tops. In addition this top is reversible, so if you choose to work the front and the back in different ways, you get two looks in one top.

When I worked the sample I combined the tapered lace edge with the v-neck on one side and the straight lace edge with the round neckline on the other. When I was done I found
myself unable to decide which side would be the front, because I like to wear each side in front equally much.

THAR is worked seamlessly from the bottom up and the shoulders are closed with a Three Needle Bind-Off. It is made from a cotton, viscose and linen blend yarn that is perfect for summer and has a lovely drape to it. This material is a little heavier than it would be if a woolen yarn of the same yarn weight was used instead. This weight causes the fabric to drape in a way that creates the illusion of waistshaping even though the top is knitted straight from the bottom up.

I love to wear this versatile and breezy summer top tucked into high-waisted and wide palazzo pants or over jeans shorts.

I hope you will like it just as much as I do! Happy knitting!

This pattern went through tech editing and test knitting. I was not able to find testers for the sizes 2XS, XS, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL though. If you are interested in testing one of these sizes, please send me a message.

THAR is intended to be worn with 8-10 cm / 3.25-4” of positive ease around the bust

YARN
4 (6, 6, 6) (8, 10, 12) (12, 14, 14) skeins of Sandnes Garn Tynn Line (50g, 220m / 240yds) in color 4335 (Bringebærkrem)

GAUGE
18 sts and 26 rows / rounds = 10cm / 4” over {p1, k9} pattern
19 sts and 27 rounds = 10cm / 4” in lace pattern

This a double strand project. Two strands of yarn are held together throughout the entire project.

Wash and block your swatch before measuring. My experience with this yarn is that it gains width and looses length after washing.

NEEDLES
4.5mm and 4mm needles (or size to obtain gauge with)

TOOLS
A tapestry needle or crochet hook to weave in the ends, 2 stitch markers and a third needle of larger size for the Three Needle Bind-Off.
